As you can see, the rain has been coming down steadily, making it a slow go as we prepare for the Grand Opening of A Step Into Africa on May 17th.

We have so much to do! I believe we have almost 80 flat panel graphics to install, plus about 10 interactive components to set up. Not to mention the delivery of 25 tables, umbrellas and 15 benches we need for relaxing as we check out the lions and elephants. Yes, I can’t wait for that relaxing part. See you when the sun is shining!

I was out and about the Zoo yesterday and happened to come across this daring young juvenile penguin checking out the water.

It must have looked inviting, because he eventually swam. What a treat! Stop down during your visit this weekend and say hello to our penguins, along with our other animals.

What a great early spring day it is: cool, sun shining and the animals are active.

For the first time, I was able to see one of our Amur tigers, Katya, jump to the top of the large stump in her exhibit. Once again I am reminded how strong and graceful these magnificent creatures are!
