Before A Step Into Africa was constructed, we showed people photos like this from other zoos saying, “This is what we are striving for, this is what we hope the experience will be like for the lions and our visitors.”

Low and behold, it is now at our Zoo! When I received this photo from one of our staff members, I really had to pinch myself. Amazing!

Hundreds of middle school kids are here today learning about the impact pollution and urbanization have on our wetlands, what alternative energy is, why we should use cloth diapers, how to start an organic garden and so much more. Indoctrinating kids into a culture of conservation is the way to go. I know they are hearing conservation messages every where and I’m pleased we can reinforce the chorus!
